Foreign Travel Advice

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you are advised to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.

It is important to make this initial appointment at least 6 weeks before you travel. Further appointments may be necessary due to the requirement of a course of vaccinations, or if the vaccinations need to be ordered.

Please refer to www.travelhealthpro.org for further information.

The following travel vaccines are available free on the NHS from the surgery:

  • Polio
  • Tetanus
  • Hepatitis A
  • Typhoid
  • Cholera

These vaccines are free because they protect against diseases thought to represent the greatest risk to public health if they were brought into the country.

Any other vaccinations and antimalarial medication will need to be obtained privately.

Please download and complete the travel risk assessment form and book a 30-minute appointment (40 minutes for a couple) with the practice nurse.

To help us offer the appropriate advice, please complete and return this Travel Form.

It is important to complete this form as early as possible – at least 6 weeks before you travel – as an appointment may be required to administer NHS provided vaccinations.

Private vaccines cannot be administered at the surgery.

Please remember that some vaccines will need to be administered at least 6 weeks before you travel to become fully effective. So, it's important you give the Medical Centre plenty of notice before you travel.
